Tara Velos

Born in Steel: A Child of the Zenith War Machine Tara Velos was not born, she was manufactured figuratively and almost literally. Her birthplace was Titan Crucible, a Dominion military hatchery orbiting the infernal moon Hezreth, where children were selected from genetic batches and trained from infancy to serve the Zenith Core Hegemony. In this brutal war state, strength was virtue, and compassion a weakness engineered out of bloodlines.Tara rose quickly through the ranks, recognized early for her genius with kinetic weapons systems, orbital bombardment coordination, and precision shock campaigns. By the age of 17, she commanded a frontline unit. By 25, she had been promoted to Dominion Field General, nicknamed the Iron Tactician feared by allies and enemies alike for her flawless strategic campaigns and brutal suppression methods.

The Catalyst: The Kareth Resource Purge

Tara's defection came during Operation Ash Harvest, a Dominion-sanctioned resource purge on the mining colony Kareth IV, located in the Akaros system. Official reports labelled it as a rebel hub, justifying total planetary sterilization. Once ground forces secured the zone, Tara uncovered the truth: Kareth housed only civilians miners, families, and refugees.

Despite her protests, High Command ordered total saturation bombardment. Drones vaporized entire habitats. Her own units were forced to engage in mass executions. Tara watched her weapons her designs incinerate children sheltering in ore silos.

That night, she executed her superior officer, disabled the detonation codes, and signalled a distress call not to Dominion reinforcements but to a rogue Martian channel she had once intercepted in a past campaign. The Dominion marked her a traitor. The war machine moved on. But Tara didn’t run.

Reforged in Fire: The Weapons Warden Rises

After escaping Kareth with the surviving civilians, Tara disappeared into the Outer Reaches. She rebuilt herself in exile, fashioning armour from the scraps of the very machines she once commanded. The Dominion never understood the difference between tools and symbols. Tara Velos did. She began sabotaging supply routes, hijacking orbital weapons, and leading rogue strike teams. Her targets: Dominion Warlords. Her tactics: heavy, kinetic, devastatingly precise.

It was during this insurgency she encountered Lyra Kane, a covert operative also working against the Dominion. Lyra’s surgical strikes and subversion methods contrasted Tara’s battlefield brutality, but their goal was the same. Joined by Dr. Syna Volen and Irena Korin, they forged an oath, one not bound by planets, governments, or flags. Thus was born the Galactic Justice initiative.

The Doctrine of the Weapons Warden

Tara Velos became the Weapons Warden, a title that came to symbolize both punishment and protection. She trained the recruits of Galactic Justice in battlefield endurance and kinetic discipline. She implemented the Doctrine of Tactical Retribution:

“The only justice is that which leaves ruins in place of tyranny.”

Her weapon of choice: the Derjent T3 Plasma Blade, tuned to her own neural response signature. Her armour: a custom Kinetic Body Shield Suit, capable of absorbing multi-tiered impacts and redirecting force via magnetic conversion.

Tara no longer fought for conquest. She fought for the silenced. Her war wasn't for vengeance it was to balance the scales she once helped tip into darkness.

Legacy and Reverence

Even among her comrades, Tara is more than a soldier she is a symbol. The Dominion whispers her name with dread. Civilians etch her sigil a flaming shield split by a blade into ruins as a sign of hope. She is the heart and shield of the new order, unflinching, unbreakable. A former destroyer turned protector, and to those who still serve the Dominion? She is the judgment that walks.
